Re: Toons want Carroll back
Carroll is good at bringing the ball down, shielding it and bringing others into play, not just his heading and presence in the box. Plus it's always good to be able to have different players and different approaches to games. I see no reason why Carroll couldn't play with the likes of Sakho/Valencia/Downing either side of him or supporting him.

Re: Toons want Carroll back
Carroll in a side playing with style but also getting telling crosses in (unlike the lumped up crap we saw last season) could be dynamite.

Any complaints?

Re: Toons want Carroll back
Carroll is a much footballer than people give him credit for, and could work well in a footballing side imo.

However, because of his height/ability in the air, physicality and reputation, he seems to be an excuse for manager and players alike (Collins mainly) to go long all the time.

Also, this is his third big injury with us in three seasons including his loan spell. If we can get close to the money we paid for him I'd take it and move on.

Ill happily drive him for free up to the North East for his medical.

Which he will fail.

Re: Toons want Carroll back
Good, keep him fit and let him go for a reasonable price he is too injury prone. And he can take Nolan with him.

Re: Toons want Carroll back
A fit Andy Carroll would be such a menace against Man U next week....But you need to get more games out of him in a season....and for that reason i'm out.

Re: Toons want Carroll back
A front three of him Valencia and sakho

Song kouyate and noble behind

- with downing, zarate and Morrison, Jarvis, poyet and amalfatini to slot in where need be

Just can't see where Nolan fits into that though

Completely disagree, I reckon he'd go back in a hearbeat. Opinions though innit, like arseholes, we've all got one.

Re: Toons want Carroll back
He's got immense physics, limited skills and gets very easily injuries.
With his sell off value and cages, we could buy two decent strikers as cover to the ones we have got.
That means, if toons want him we should add Cole and Nolan in that deal just to get rid!

Norflundon 8:19 Mon Sep 22
Re: Toons want Carroll back
Don't think he'd go back up there

If he was a horse he'd be in Ikea meetballs by now.

Re: Toons want Carroll back
He is not anywhere near the great player some suggest and when he is in the team he makes us play in a way that doesn't suit us. Add to that his fitness and attitude to it then I'd say he is nowhere near worth the wages he is stealing from us.

Teams pay silly money when staring at relegation ... I wouldn't rule the Geordies coming in for him tbh

Re: Toons want Carroll back
He's a decent player when fit & is off the sauce & focused.

Trouble is that isn't very often.

If we get a decent offer & by that I'd say between £10 - £12 mil I think we should take it & run.

How likely that would be is doubtful, but anything less & or pay & play offers then I'd hold on to him & hope for the best.

keep a big squad with various options and dispel the Westwham way rumour once and for all.

Re: Toons want Carroll back
Hopefully the medics in the USA got it right this time.
If they tell us Carroll should be injury free he could be a very good option for us, if there is the slightest doubt he'll go down again we should try to sell him...
